Bergen - meeting up with Jonathan

The 7 hour train trip from Oslo to Bergen turned into over 9 hours when a signalling fault saw us stuck outside Myrdal for over 2 hours. Lucky we had paid more for more comfortable seats and free hot drinks.

Bergen is one of the wettest cities in the world; it rains on 280 days a year, and was not going to be the exception for us.  We had some quite heavy rain yesterday. After checking out the fish market (and spending a lot on prawns, crab, fresh salmon and smoked salmon) we explored the world heritage Bryggen area, and visited several museums, included on our Bergen card.

This area is now protected.  Not so long ago developers wanted to pull 

down all the old timber houses. That's me with the red umbrella.

 Jonathan arrived yesterday and brought great weather for today.  

He is standing outside our apartment on the Nordnes peninsula.

Tomorrow we collect the rental car and head off into Fjordland :-)
